Since last Thursday, those passing through Hollywood Boulevard, notably near La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, stop in front of the statue of the rap star US Kanye West erected there.
The golden sculpture depicts a figure entirely covered with gold, feet and fists tied, in a crucifixion pose, which carries the face of the rapper and the sneakers he himself created, the Yeezy Boost 350.
The most curious is this plaque at the base of the statue, where it is written: "False Idol" (false Idol). Especially since the one who calls himself Yeezus ("his name of nigga") in one of his albums, has already posed with a crown of thorns bloody on the head in one of Rolling Stone.
"We built Kanye West in a kind of idol like a nigga, I believe he is a genius when it comes to writing and producing , But it is human. When we build people in idols we have expectations, and if they fail to meet those expectations, we crucify them. We saw this last year when Kanye was admitted to a medical facility for treatment of stress, anxiety and paranoia. We must take a step back and remember that our idols are only human and as such we must give them space to wander, "said the anonymous artist at the base of this creation, which is called Plastic Jesus, on a statement.
The statue will remain only 48 hours at this location.
One of Plastic Idol's collaborators on this project, Erik Johnson, also explained the aim of this project: "Stop making famous people stupid," he wrote on his account Instagram.
